Blue Ribbon Beer Garden is an outdoor oasis overlooking Allen Street complete with a pingpong table, board games and beer.
A welcome departure from typical beer-hall bräts and pretzels, its menu features $15 plates of smoky barbecue – choose from BBQ Cornish Hen, BBQ Ribs or Market Vegetable of the Day – accompanied by bean salad, coleslaw and cornbread. Bar snacks such as pork rinds and boiled peanuts are available for $3.
A diverse beer list boasts brews both familiar and esoteric with such cult favorites as Hitachino White Ale from Japan, large-format Saison DuPont Farmhouse Ale from Belgium and small-batch Sorachi Ace by Brooklyn Brewery. Tried-and-true crowd pleasers, including Brooklyn Lager, Victory Prima Pils and Duvel, are also available, while wines – red, white or rosé – can be ordered by the $10 carafe.
The Lower East Side outdoor beer garden accepts guests on a walk-in basis only and is open 5 pm – 10 pm Monday through Friday and 12 pm – 10 pm Saturday and Sunday
