Chicago is renowned for its diverse dining options, and Thompson has clearly laid claim to coastal Italy. Nico Osteria has become a bona fide hit with our Gold Coast neighbors, and it’s easy to see why—as the name osteria implies, Chef Wu-Bower keeps it simple to delight the senses with the quality of his ingredients. And the Italian air is carried through to the Mediterranean wines and aperitifs that underscore Salone Nico’s dramatic surroundings.
Chef Erling Wu-Bower is “killing it” with this “mesmerizing knockout" serving "impeccable seafood and clean, light flavors.” Already one of Chicago’s hottest kitchens, the talents behind Blackbird, avec, Publican Quality Meats, The Violet Hour and Big Star have brought authentically Italian seafood and house-made pastas together with Amanda Rockman's unconventionally creative pastries and desserts. The warm and inviting urban rustic environment suits the food and the neighborhood perfectly.
