We checked in with Tarsha Pete from Revolve Kitchen + Bar at Hotel Derek in Houston to learn more about their new cocktail menu, must-have items for any aspiring mixologist, and the perfect recipe for an easy make-at-home drink.
Tell us about the new cocktail menu.
The new cocktail menu is great because it fuses unique spirit combinations
that surprise and delight guest. Two standouts are the Tequila breakfast
Club and the Yellow rose of Texas. The Yellow rose of Texas features Deep
Eddy’s lemon vodka made in Texas, and is topped with a sparkling rose for
a bit of fizz. The Tequila Breakfast Club is made with orange marmalade jam, it’s very drinkable and smooth.
My favorite cocktail to make is the Patio season. Guests love to watch as you
muddle to make fresh pineapple juice. Of course you have to shake it, so it
is truly a show. The presentation is beautiful in a martini glass with a fresh basil leaf floating on top.
What's your favorite cocktail to make?
An easy, make-at-home drink recipe?
My favorite right now is mimosas. I love to variate them. A great recipe is to mix the following:
Pama pomegranate juice- 1.5 oz.
.5 oz of St. Germaine
4 oz of champagne
What’s the most popular drink right now?
The Guns & Roses. It has Buffalo Trace bourbon in it. And as we all know, bourbon is hot right now!
Your recommended items for at-home mixologists?
A must-have for any mixologist is a neutral spirit like vodka. Always make sure to have fresh fruit, a muddler, ice ball molds, Boston shaker, and a strainer. That’s all you need!
