Located 30 minutes north of Seattle, Jetty Island has quickly become a mecca for outdoor sports including kiteboarding, kayaking, volleyball, and bird-watching. The teeny man-made island (a quick ferry ride from Seattle) is home to 45 species of birds such as osprey, Western Sandpiper, and Short-billed Dowitcher. It’s also dotted with picnic tables and nature trails for exploring. Lucky visitors might even spot whales during migration season. While the island is open year-round, the ferry runs during summer months only. Don’t forget the SPF, sun hat, and a jacket for chilly weather.
