Exploring The Arts

Discover these two Not-To-Miss Museums less than 30 minutes from our hotel in Stowe, Vermont.

Located 15 minutes from Stowe Mountain Lodge, the Greek Revival-style Helen Day Art Center was built in 1861 and formerly operated as a high school until 1973. Now, the center features works by artists such as New York painter Pat Steir, Vermont–based artist Tara Thacker, and offers adult classes including Autumn Landscapes in Pastel and Sewing Sundays. Youth classes span costume and set design and clay class to learn the basics of making figurines, pinch pots, and hanging mobiles.

Designed to depict 19th-century life in Morristown, Vermont, the Noyes House Museum is  just another 15 minutes from Helen Day Art Center. This museum is housed in seventeen rooms and barns originally built by John Stafford in 1796. Now a homage to the historic town, it contains a slew of artifacts and objects from photographs and military memorabilia to textiles and items used during the era.
