Scottsdale’s new Western Spirit: Museum of The West joins the area’s rank of standout museums including Musical Instrument Museum and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Located in Old Town Scottsdale, the museum is lined with a sculpture courtyard featuring a Ponderosa Pine Saddle bench and rotating artwork from artists such as Bruce R. Greene, Allan Houser, and Doug Hyde, and exhibits featuring everything from spurs and holsters to “Wanted” posters, bronco belts, and horse bridles. Spend the afternoon immersed in cowboy culture and comb current exhibitions such as John Coleman with works in charcoal, bronze, oil, and graphite, or Will James: Cowboy Artist and Author who penned Smoky the Cowhorse.
